Cloud Automation monitoring (CAUs)
Dynatrace Cloud Automation is an event-driven automation platform that organizations use to deliver secure, quality software to their end users.
- DevOps Platform Engineers utilize Dynatrace Cloud Automation to break up complex CI/CD pipelines into manageable pieces and reduce tool chain complexity. Notifications of all changes and updates are automatically sent to stakeholders in your organization, as are all support ticket updates.
- Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) build upon platform automation to ensure a quality end-user experience and that all service-level objectives for operating available, reliable, and performant software are met. For example, Cloud Automation enables SREs to see how problems impact error budgets and automatically remediate problems when they occur.
Cloud Automation units (CAUs)
Dynatrace Cloud Automation is licensed based on the consumption of Cloud Automation units (CAUs). CAUs are consumed based on the number of automated tasks that are executed in your Dynatrace environment. You can configure which automation tasks are executed and triggered based on configurable event subscriptions.
Automated task examples
Each automated task consumes 1 Cloud Automation unit.
- Triggering a quality gate evaluation
- Triggering a software deployment
- Triggering a third-party service
Examples of Cloud Automation unit consumption
- Lifecycle orchestration:
1 tool interaction = 1 CAU
. For example, sending an update to JIRA consumes 1 CAU; triggering a test execution consumes 1 CAU; triggering a deployment consumes 1 CAU; and triggering a release consumes 1 CAU. - Quality gate evaluation:
1 quality gate evaluation = 1 CAU
, irrespective of the number of metrics (Service level indicators) that are included in the quality gate. - Problem remediation:
1 remediation action = 1 CAU
