To use the new browser monitor experience when executing browser monitors from private locations, ActiveGate version 1.331+ is required.
The new browser monitor experience completes the transition of Dynatrace Synthetic to the latest Dynatrace Platform. With the new browser monitor experience activated, Dynatrace executes browser monitors with the latest RUM JavaScript. The new browser monitor experience allows you to:
Synthetic, including enhanced Requests waterfall chart.
Notebooks and visualize trends in
Dashboards.
Experience Vitals. Also, with the new browser monitor experience activated, Dynatrace reports performance of monitored websites and web applications with the extended subset of performance metrics, including:
These metrics are available for an entire browser monitor as well as for individual monitor steps. Activating the new browser monitor experience does not stop executions using the classic RUM JavaScript, and the Total duration (classic) metric remains available.
Not applicable to new Dynatrace environments created after January 26, 2026.
You can activate or deactivate the new browsing experience at the following levels:
When you activate the new browser monitor experience, monitors are executed with both new and classic RUM JavaScript. This means that metrics and events generated with both new and classic RUM JavaScript are ingested into Dynatrace, but no additional costs are incurred. Also, full classic reporting for browser monitors is available in
Synthetic Classic.
Activating the new browser monitor experience makes a new Requests waterfall chart available to you. You are redirected to the chart when you select Analyze executions on the browser monitor reporting page. When the new experience is not yet activated, you are redirected to the Multidimensional analysis page in Dynatrace Classic.
Once activated, the new browser monitor experience can be easily reverted, either at the environment or individual monitor level. Thanks to the dual ingestion mentioned above, the data continuity is uninterrupted during this process.
By default, the new browser monitor experience is deactivated. To activate or deactivate it
After you activate or deactivate the new browser monitor experience at the environment level, it's applied to all browser monitors in your environment that are configured to inherit this setting from the environment level.
To activate or deactivate the new browser monitor experience for individual monitors independently of the environment-level setting, see:
You can configure individual monitors to not inherit the New browser monitoring experience setting from the environment level, which allows you to activate or deactivate the new browser monitor experience for individual monitors independently of the environment-level setting (see the sections below).
You may opt for gradual adoption of the new browser monitor experience by activating it only for individual monitors. This approach allows you to control the timing and validate changes before a broader rollout.
You can activate or deactivate the new browser monitor experience for individual monitors when creating and configuring a new browser monitor. The New browser monitoring experience setting is at the beginning of the monitor creation and configuration process, in the General settings section.
Select Override if the monitor is configured to inherit the New browser monitoring experience setting from the environment level.
By default, the monitor is configured to inherit the New browser monitoring experience setting from the environment level. For example, if the new browser monitor experience is activated at the environment level, it is also activated for the monitor. However, you can prevent the monitor from inheriting the environment-level setting by selecting Override. Then, you can activate or deactivate the new browser monitor experience for the monitor independently of the environment-level setting. To make the monitor inherit the environment-level setting again, select Remove override.
You can go to the environment level by selecting Environment .
Turn Enable new browser monitor experience on or off.
Scroll down and select Save. You should see a notification confirming that your changes are saved.
Also, you can manage this setting for an existing browser monitor.
Go to
Synthetic.
Optional To filter the table for browser monitors, select Browser under Filter options on the left.
From the list of browser monitors, select the monitor for which you want to activate or deactivate the new experience.
Select Edit in the upper-right corner of the monitor overview pane.
Perform steps 1–3 of the Activate or deactivate new experience for new monitor procedure.
