Step 1 Obtain a Dynatrace Managed license

To obtain a license for Dynatrace Managed, please contact Dynatrace Sales. Our sales team will be happy to provide you with more details about the two licensing models (Dynatrace Platform Subscription and Classic Licensing) and how usage is calculated.

Once an agreement has been reached, you will receive an email with your license details and instructions for setting up a Managed cluster.

Step 2 Set up a Managed cluster

Select the Managed deployment model that best suits your needs. Based on your selected deployment model, set up a Managed cluster and create your first cluster node.

You can add more nodes at any time. A minimum of 3 nodes is required for a Managed cluster in production.

Step 3 Install ActiveGate

Install Cluster ActiveGates and/or Environment ActiveGates as required in your selected deployment model.

Step 4 Ingest observability data

Start monitoring your infrastructure and applications by ingesting data from OneAgent and OpenTelemetry into your monitoring environment.
