This page explains the Dynatrace sign-in process and describes session duration and the Remember me option.

Sign-in process

  1. Go to your Dynatrace environment (for example, wkf10640.apps.dynatrace.com).
  2. Enter your email address and select Next.
  3. Sign in using your password. If your organization uses federated authentication, Dynatrace redirects you to your identity provider instead.
  4. Complete any additional verification steps, if required.
Sign in with a Microsoft corporate account

Use Sign in with Microsoft to authenticate with your Microsoft corporate account without entering your email address. This option is available only if it’s enabled by your organization. For details, see Sign in with Microsoft.

Session duration

After you sign in, Dynatrace maintains an active session subject to inactivity and maximum duration limits. For details, see IAM limits.

When your session expires, you're redirected to the sign-in page.

Remember me

The Remember me checkbox on the sign-in page lets you stay signed in across browser sessions without re-entering your credentials.

How it works

When you select Remember me and sign in successfully, Dynatrace stores a secure authentication cookie in your browser. This cookie is valid for 90 days from the moment it's created. Each time you return to Dynatrace within that period, Dynatrace uses the cookie to sign you in automatically without entering your password.

The 90-day period is fixed and doesn't reset with each visit. After it expires, you need to sign in again.

How Remember me works for federated users

Remember me is automatically enabled for federated users:

  • After a successful federated authentication, Dynatrace automatically sets the Remember me cookie on your behalf—the federated sign-in flow doesn't present a checkbox.
  • The cookie is also valid for 90 days.
Federated sign-in still depends on your IdP session

The Remember me cookie skips the username step and automatically redirects you to your IdP, but it doesn't bypass IdP authentication. If your IdP session has expired, your IdP prompts you to sign in again before redirecting you back to Dynatrace.

Signing out and session expiration

When you sign out of Dynatrace, the Remember me cookie is removed, so you need to sign in again on your next visit. Signing out on one device doesn't affect the Remember me setting on other devices. The cookie is also removed if you change your password or if your user is deactivated.

When Dynatrace ends your session automatically—for example, due to inactivity or a permissions change—the Remember me cookie isn't affected. On your next visit, Dynatrace automatically signs you back in using the cookie.
