Install Davis CoPilot

Ask Davis CoPilot is an app that your admin needs to install first and grant you access before you can start using it.

During the Preview, Dynatrace will provide you with the subscription channel through which you can manage Ask Davis CoPilot.

  1. After Dynatrace creates your subscription channel, a Dynatrace representative will provide you with a subscription token that you need to add to your environment to enable a subscription to the Ask Davis CoPilot app. Learn how to enable subscription.
  2. After the subscription is enabled, go to Dynatrace Hub, search for Ask Davis CoPilot, open the app overview and select Install as an admin or Request to install as a regular user.

For more information on managing your policies, see Manage IAM policies.

Using the Davis CoPilot conversational interface

After successfully setting the permissions and installing the app, you should see a new icon CoPilot below the Search in the dock.

  1. In Dynatrace, select CoPilot Davis CoPilot™.
  2. A new modal opens with conversation interface.
  3. Type your question. See examples for inspiration.
  4. Select Run Run and wait for the response to be generated.
    • You can ask follow-up questions.
    • Every response contains a list of sources that were consulted to generate the answer. You can consult these for further information. See sources
    • Conversations are saved automatically. These can be renamed or deleted from the overview list of conversations.
    • You can cancel the response generation, refine your prompt, and then re-send the question.
    • You can use the conversation interface on top of any application.

Answers are generated based on Dynatrace-related resources. If the model is unable to create a response or the question is asked in context unrelated to Dynatrace, you'll see an error message:

  • Warning An error has occurred while processing your request. Try asking a different question.

For the preview purpose, there is a limit of questions that can be asked within the 15-minute threshold. If your environment surpasses the limit, you'll see an error message:

  • Warning There were too many requests for your environment. Please try again in a few minutes.

What you can expect from the Davis CoPilot conversational interface

We're giving you early access to our Davis CoPilot to make sure we're meeting your expectations and to give you a chance to help us develop the product to address your needs. Davis CoPilot is not perfect and is still in development.

Please familiarize yourself with the following aspects of the Davis CoPilot conversation interface.

Davis CoPilot uses LLMs

Davis CoPilot is based on a large language model (LLM) provided by the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. The models used by Davis CoPilot generate responses based on your inputs and are probabilistic. This means that their responses are generated by predicting the most probable next word or text, based on the data that they have been created with, and on the provided context. Davis CoPilot uses the GPT-4o model.

Because of this approach, these models can sometimes behave in ways that are inaccurate, incomplete, or unreliable. For example, there is always the risk that the response that you receive does not accurately reflect the prompt that you provided, or that the generated content that sounds reasonable but is incomplete or inaccurate and should not be relied on.
