Avoid billing surprises with smart Dynatrace cost monitors
The Dynatrace Platform Subscription model transformed how we deliver the value of the Dynatrace platform to our customers, providing seamless access to all platform capabilities in any quantity. Now we’ve introduced cost monitors to assist you in managing your Dynatrace budget and making the most of full platform access. Cost monitors notify you of any notable shifts in your daily and projected costs during your subscription.

ActiveGate updates

To prevent the possible loss of buffered old log-event data, we highly recommend that ActiveGate versions 1.263 or earlier not be updated directly to version 1.273+. Instead, update ActiveGate versions 1.263 or earlier to a version between 1.265 and 1.271 first.

Log Monitoring V1

We strongly encourage you to switch to the latest Dynatrace Log Monitoring version.

Log Monitoring v1 will reach the end of life and will be switched off in November 2023.

New features and enhancements

New DQL functions

Platform | DQL

Now you can include the following functions in your DQL queries:

encodeUrl
The encodeUrl function encodes a URL string.
decodeUrl
The decodeUrl function decodes URL strings.
unescapeHtml
The unescapeHtml unescapes HTML in a string.

numberToHexString
The numberToHexString function converts a number to a hexadecimal string.
hexStringToNumber
The hexStringToNumber function converts a hexadecimal string to a number.
random
The random function creates a random double value.

New DQL commands

Now you can include the following commands in your DQL queries.

makeTimeseries

The makeTimeseries command creates timeseries from the data in the stream.

Not possible to create an AMP application

Digital Experience | RUM Web

It's no longer possible to create an AMP application via the Dynatrace web UI or API, and we will discontinue support for AMP application monitoring sometime in the future.

Certificate authentication for browser monitors

Digital Experience | Synthetic Monitoring

Browser monitors running on public locations and private locations with Linux-based ActiveGates (containerized as well as non-containerized) now support certificate authentication. Each certificate must be tied to a single domain. You can specify and upload certificate files in PFX, P12, or PEM format from the Advanced setup tab of browser monitor settings in edit mode. This feature requires Synthetic-enabled ActiveGate version 1.271+.

New dimensions to vulnerability metrics

Automatic cleanup of ActiveGate tokens

Now we automatically delete ActiveGate tokens that were not used for two years.

Enhanced Kubernetes event monitoring

All Kubernetes events of type Warning are considered relevant to identifying the root causes of issues. This change has two primary impacts.

When the Include important events option is enabled in cluster monitoring settings, these warning events pass through this initial filter. This means you'll see more relevant events in your monitoring feed.
As these warning events are now deemed relevant to root cause analysis, and Davis AI incorporates them into its causation analysis.

Detect CPU saturation on host not supported on AIX systems

Added a description to the Detect CPU saturation on host option to clarify that this alert is not supported on AIX systems.

Webhook problem notifications

Webhook problem notifications now support the accept any certificate setting for OAuth communication.

Cluster

Fixed an issue causing app failure when receiving a 500 response from the API for DQL query parsing. (LOG-4022)
The metrics for monitoring candidates are now visible on the new host page. (HOST-3246)
Fixed an issue that caused some logs to be ingested contrary to the Log Storage configuration. After cluster restart, when the OneAgent periodically polls for its configuration, the cluster sometimes returned the configuration from the tenant level instead of the full configuration for the given OneAgent (accounting for host group and host configuration). This corrected itself after a few seconds, but some log lines may have been sent already. (LOG-3925)
The request attribute input field on the service failure detection page now correctly handles user input to filter items. (TI-7477)

ActiveGate

The Snappy-java library has been updated to version 1.1.10.3 in response to CVE-2023-34453, CVE-2023-34454, and CVE-2023-34455. (DMX-4280)

User Interface

Corrected an issue in which opening an entity (such as a service) in a new tab sometimes would instead open the main web UI page. (UIP-4109)

The loading indicator in the "View user session" button in the log details panel is no longer displayed indefinitely. (LOG-3944)
On unified analysis pages (for example, the host details page), "Events" card, corrected the events count for long-lasting events. (TI-7472)
