End of support for private Synthetic locations on Red Hat/Oracle Linux/Rocky Linux 8

There are no new versions of Chromium for Red Hat/Oracle Linux/Rocky Linux 8 beyond version 133. For important security and stability reasons, we've decided to discontinue our support for installing Synthetic-enabled ActiveGate on Red Hat/Oracle Linux/Rocky Linux 8 after ActiveGate version 1.325.

To ensure the continuity and security of your synthetic monitors, we recommend migrating your Synthetic-enabled ActiveGate to one of the supported operating systems, for example Red Hat/Oracle Linux/Rocky Linux 9.

ActiveGate version 1.325 is the last Synthetic-enabled ActiveGate supported on Red Hat/Oracle Linux/Rocky Linux 8.

Additionally, with Dynatrace version 1.326, we plan to introduce mechanisms preventing Synthetic-enabled ActiveGates on Red Hat/Oracle Linux/Rocky Linux 8 from being updated beyond version 1.325.

New agctl option to stream archive content to –stdout

The agctl create-support-archive command now supports a --stdout option, allowing the archive content to be streamed directly to stdout, while redirecting logs to stderr. This enhancement simplifies workflows, avoids disk space limitations, and enables seamless integration with Kubernetes-based tools and workflows.

Chromium Versions Below 126 Blocked by Synthetic Installer

Starting with Synthetic version 1.325, installations will no longer work with Chromium versions earlier than 126. Due to major incompatibilities between the Synthetic Player and older Chromium builds, the installer now includes a compatibility check that prevents installation on systems running unsupported versions.

We'd like to remind you of the importance of keeping your Linux-based Synthetic-enabled ActiveGates and Chromium versions up to date. Dynatrace supports Chromium versions that are no more than two releases behind the latest Dynatrace-supported version for a specific ActiveGate release.

For example:

  • If the latest supported Chromium version is 140, Dynatrace supports versions no earlier than 138.
  • If a significantly older Chromium version is bundled with a specific operating system, Dynatrace supports only that provided version.

For more details, see instructions on updating Chromium automatically and manually.
