Upgrade Problems Classic to Problems on Grail
If you analyze incidents in your environment in Dynatrace and use the problems feed and problem details page, you can improve your experience with the new Problem app, backed by data from Grail.
Why upgrade?
The new Problems app continues to provide what you like most about the classic solution while offering a number of significant improvements.
What's still there
The new Problems app still does what you like most about it.
- Detection and analysis of incidents and related don't change. Dynatrace still detects problems based on raw event data from multiple sources, such as OneAgent or event ingestion.
- You still get the problem feed and root cause analysis for every problem, just like in the classic app.
What's new
The new Problems app provides numerous advantages over the classic solution.
- Drastically faster and simpler user experience with the new web UI that reduces the need for paged navigation.
- Natively integrated support for Grail data.
- Preview charts of events directly within problem details.
- Flexible problem feed with configurable columns and multiselection.
- Powerful filtering, sorting, and search functionality.
- Overview of all entities affected by the problem.
- Overview of all event properties and tags, including those attached by third-party sources.
What the upgrade does
Upgrading to the new Problems app installs the new app.
- Upgrading does not change or remove the classic app. The two apps are available side-by-side in your Dynatrace environment as Problems (the new app) and Problems Classic.
- You and your teams can switch between Problems and Problems Classic without data loss. You can continue using the classic solution while you explore the new app.
- It's up to you to decide which version to use.
To ensure a smooth transition to the new experience, we plan to continue support for the classic app for at least a year (as of June 2024). During this transition period, we rely on your feedback to ensure that the new app offers everything you need.
