Monitor Cisco Nexus switches via SNMP to collect metrics on interfaces, BGP, OSPF, hardware health, and resource usage in your network infrastructure.
Cisco Nexus switches are widely used in data center network infrastructure. This extension monitors them remotely via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
The Cisco Nexus extension supports a variety of device models. Only Cisco-supported products are officially covered, but you can monitor any device with SNMP connectivity that supports the required MIBs and OIDs.
Find and activate Cisco Nexus in the Extensions app or Hub page. If offline, download the extension from the Hub page under Release notes and install it as a custom extension.
You can add multiple target devices to a single monitoring configuration. See the SNMP data source documentation for configuration field details.
After adding the monitored devices, you can select which feature sets to enable, which will determine what the extension queries for.
Each feature set corresponds to a group of metrics. Enable or disable feature sets based on your device types and versions. Not all feature sets apply to all devices.
Required metrics cannot be disabled. They are in the "default" feature set. Use Interface filters to limit which interfaces are monitored. Without a filter, the extension collects all interfaces on the device. To skip interface collection entirely, enter $eq(!) in the Interface filter field.
There is no charge to use the extension. You are only charged for the data that the extension ingests.
The Cisco Nexus extension ingests custom metrics, which consume Davis Data Units (DDUs) (Dynatrace classic license) or Metrics powered by Grail (DPS), according to your license model.
The following table lists metric data points per feature set, collected once per minute unless noted. Multiply each count by the number of discovered components per device.

In the Dynatrace Platform Subscription, metric ingestion consumes Metrics powered by Grail according to the number of ingested metric data points.
To calculate the approximate yearly consumption, apply the following calculation: <metric data points per minute> * 60 minutes * 24 hours * 365 days.
In the classic licensing model, metric ingestion consumes Davis Data Units (DDUs) at the rate of .001 DDUs per metric data point. Multiply the above formula for annual data points by .001 to estimate annual DDU usage.
The DDU cost above does not include any possible log events or custom events that are triggered by the extension. For more information, see DDU events.
See the Dynatrace SNMP Troubleshooting doc for common issues. Additional guides are in the Dynatrace Community.
