Trigger server-side app functions in Dynatrace with the AppEngine - App Functions API to execute installed app functions quickly and securely.

Overview

Dynatrace AppEngine - App Functions lets you trigger server-side functions exposed by installed Dynatrace apps, making it easy to invoke app logic from external workflows or other Dynatrace components. It provides the core capability to execute a specific function for a given app, which is useful for automating tasks, integrating app behavior into broader processes, and coordinating actions that need to run within the Dynatrace environment. Typical usage involves calling the API when an app needs to perform backend work on demand rather than through a user interface interaction.

Authentication

Platform API endpoints use Platform token and OAuth client authentication. Attach a platform token or OAuth access token to the Authorization HTTP header using the Bearer scheme.

--header 'Authorization: Bearer <platform-token-or-oauth-access-token>'

For details, see Tokens and authentication and Platform tokens.

Endpoints

  • Invoke an app function with GET (GET /apps/{appId}/api/{functionName})
  • Invoke an app function with POST (POST /apps/{appId}/api/{functionName})
