Learn how to create a Jira issue with Jira Connector Jira for Workflows. You'll create a workflow and use the Jira Connector action called Create Issue.

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of Dynatrace Workflows. For more information, see Workflows quick start.
  • Jira Connector is set up.
  • All necessary permissions to run Workflows.

Steps

Set up a workflow to create Jira issues automatically.

  1. Go to Workflows Workflows and select Workflow.

  2. In the Select a trigger panel, select one of the available triggers.

  3. On the trigger node, select Add task to browse available actions.

  1. In the side panel, search the actions for Jira Connector and select Create Issue.
  2. Select a preconfigured Jira connection.
  3. Select a Jira project.
  4. Select an issue type.
  5. Optional Select values for fields such as priority, assignee, reporter, labels, and components.

    Not all fields support workflow expressions and some fields depend on others. For example, the priority cannot be set if the issue type is unknown.

  6. Enter summary text.
  7. Enter a description for the Jira issue.
  8. Format your message using Jira Text Formatting Notation.
  9. Optional You can also use workflow expressions as input for the description.
  10. Select Run.

Outcome

After following these steps, depending on your settings, you have built a workflow that you created a Jira issue.
