Dynatrace Managed release notes version 1.252
Rollout start: Oct 19, 2022
These release notes relate to Dynatrace Managed specific changes. To learn about general Dynatrace changes included in this Dynatrace Managed release, see:
Announcements
- CentOS/RHEL/OL 8.2, CentOS 8.4, CentOS 8.5, Suse LES 11.4 operating systems are no longer allowed to install new cluster nodes. Dynatrace Managed version 1.258 will be the last one that you can upgrade at one of these operating systems.
Davis Assistant end of life
Dynatrace Davis Assistant will reach end of life on January 31, 2023. After this date, the service will be shut down, and interactions with Davis Assistant will no longer be possible. Existing integrations, for example, with Slack or Microsoft Teams, will cease to work at that time.
For options and best practices on managing the push of problem notifications to your preferred third-party incident management or ChatOps service, see problem notifications documentation.
New features and enhancements
Predictable data retention management
When there's not enough free disk space to store new data, the Dynatrace Managed cluster automatically adjusts the retention times of data stored in Elasticsearch and transaction storage if both are placed on the same disk partition. The data retention adjustment is applied equally to all environments in the cluster.
Application Security threat intelligence automatically updated
To ensure you always have up-to-date Dynatrace threat intelligence in the Application Security module, third-party vulnerability feed metadata is automatically downloaded from Mission Control. If you have enabled Application Security, you can't opt out from downloading the metadata—it's an essential part of this solution. Feeds are downloaded on demand. You can audit each successful and failed attempt on the Cluster Management Console Events page.
Improved SAML-based SSO configuration
The HTTP Content Security Policy (CSP) form-action directive restricts the URLs that can be used as the target of form submissions from a given context. If there is a redirect from the Identity Provider (IdP) to other hosts during sign-in or sign-out, you can add them in the new configuration input field.
Upgraded JRE
To take advantage of performance improvements, the latest security-vulnerability enhancements, and bug fixes, we've upgraded JRE for the following cluster node components:
- Cassandra now uses JRE 8u345
- Other components now use JRE 11.0.16.1
Improved email validation in CMC
When setting up user accounts and notifications, you can now use email addresses with a single letter in a top-level domain.
Simplified file structure of Dynatrace Managed installation
When a custom Linux system user is used to run Dynatrace Managed services, there was a custom directory created under the user's home directory (/home/<user running managed>/.javacpp/cache/
). This is the technical directory that was moved to /var/opt/dynatrace-managed/.javacpp/cache/
to ease the management of the deployment.

Resolved issues
General Availability (Build 1.252.175)
The 1.252 GA release contains 1 resolved issue.
Cluster
- Some screens that are included with extensions log card are blank and don't show any data. (TI-3691)
Update 184 (Build 1.252.184)
This cumulative update contains 16 resolved issues and all previously released updates for the 1.252 release.
ActiveGate
- Fixed memory leak in ActiveGate. (APM-387080)
Autonomous Cloud
- With Kubernetes 1.25 the beta apis cronjobs endpoint, which was previously used by the Kubernetes API monitoring on ActiveGate was removed. https://kubernetes.io/docs/reference/using-api/deprecation-guide/#cronjob-v125. (K8S-3414)
Cluster
- Removed duplicate "Packets" metric from "Host performance" charts on the new Windows host page. (APM-386499)
- - If several code editor components exist on a page, lint errors won't be shared, but every instance will have its own. - The "Run query" is no longer enabled if another code editor component exists. (APM-385306)
- Metric Event Configurations for service (and potentially more) entities now generates problems if the name or tag filter was used. (APM-388396)
- Fixed an issue where the downstream and upstream cards don't match old host page. (HOST-1328)
- Selecting Settings > Monitoring > Monitoring overview page no longer results in error. (RUM-7927)
- - dql-auto-completion is more lightweight, calculating _fulltextToApply_ and _newCursorPosition_ on suggestion selection (not on dropdown creation) - When a suggestion is applied, it will check the rest of the query and try to remove enough characters to avoid leftovers. It only removes a minimum number of characters, so the user doesn't feel like part of the query has been removed. (APM-385563)
- Session and useraction properties can now be captured for query string parameters containing a colon. (RUM-7306)
- - Charts now available in full width - No data truncation, panning added (drag left or right to see all data) - Fixing/centering loading for Log viewer and Logs and Events. (APM-385558)
- Fixed an issue in which possible types of monitored entiity attributes were not displayed properly in response of the Entity API v2. (TI-3549)
- Fixed an issue where a dimension filter on a metric selector was incorrectly returning an empty result, which was also causing management zone filters to return an empty result despite having metric data for the selected management zone. (APM-387341)
- Fixed error on AWS Lambda Functions screen, which could sometimes appear when switching between monitoring solutions. (APM-386334)
- Fixed an issue where the user could not edit any monitoring configuration when the configuration count was equal to the limit (10 by default). (EXT-2745)
- Fixed wrong display names in monitoring rules for custom process groups regarding the Kubernetes namespace and Kubernetes Pod UID. (TI-3234)
- Removed code-mirror error logging as it was creating duplicated bugs unrelated with code-mirror. (APM-387225)
Update 188 (Build 1.252.188)
This cumulative update contains 1 resolved issue and all previously released updates for the 1.252 release.
Cluster
- In certain occasions, the user session list appears empty without the option to keep loading when there are no results during the specified loading time. (RUM-7830)
Update 190 (Build 1.252.190)
This cumulative update contains 2 resolved issue (including 1 vulnerability resolution) and all previously released updates for the 1.252 release.
ActiveGate
- Vulnerability: Apache Commons Text library has been updated in response to CVE-2022-42889. (APM-389373)
managed
- Fixed sign-in problem that occurred when using SAML for "SSO only" mode and no logout endpoint was defined in IdP metadata. (CLD-4300)
Update 197 (Build 1.252.197)
This cumulative update contains 1 resolved issue and all previously released updates for the 1.252 release.
Cluster
- Some Problems could not be properly updated due to a bug in the handling on premium HA environments. (APM-391104)
