Dynatrace SaaS release notes version 1.304

Rollout start: Nov 4, 2024

Breaking changes

New Semantic Dictionary conventions and samples for unified ingest

Application Security | Vulnerabilities

Ingested AWS container vulnerability findings and OCSF vulnerability findings now follow the updated Semantic Dictionary conventions.

To help you visualize data and automate notifications, we provide an updated set of sample dashboards of vulnerability findings and workflows for Jira and Slack notifications that you can upload in your Dynatrace environment and use for your ingested security events.

Warning Breaking change Please note that this is a breaking change for the ingested vulnerability data formats. Previous versions of your dashboard and workflows might need to be redeployed using the updated samples published on GitHub.

For details, see Security events ingest.

Announcements

Log attribute becomes a content-like field

Infrastructure Observability | Logs

Starting with Dynatrace version 1.305, the log attribute will be treated in a similar way as content, message, payload and body attribute. These attributes are considered a content attribute of the log message.

Action might be required: If there is no content attribute defined for a given log source, the log attribute will be treated as content. If you have any log processing, log metric, and/or log events rules set on the log attribute, you'll need to update your configuration.

This change will ensure data ingested in through the log attribute that exceeds 2.5 KB isn't trimmed and will be accepted up to 256 KB, which is the default content attribute limit in OpenPipeline. For classic log processing pipeline ingestion, the limits are 250 B for any log attribute and 64 kB for content.

New features and enhancements

Dashboards and Notebooks

  • Continuous improvements of visualization options

Platform | Dashboards Platform | Notebooks

In this and future releases, we're extending the customization options of the majority of our data visualizations in both the Dashboards and Notebooks apps. At the same time, we're introducing new unified UI visualization controls across both apps to improve the overall usability of these settings.

  • In-app feedback option in Notebooks

    Platform | Notebooks

To give feedback on Notebooks Notebooks, open the Help menu in the upper-right corner and select Feedback. That opens a Dynatrace Community channel where you can tell us about your Notebooks experience. We would love to hear what you have to say.

  • WYSIWYG buttons in Markdown tile editor in Dashboards

    Platform | Dashboards

In Dashboards, the Markdown tile editor now displays a row of formatting buttons above the edit box to make Markdown editing faster and easier.

  • Rounded timeframe expressions in Dashboards

    Platform | Dashboards

In the timeframe selector for a dashboard or tile, you can now choose a rounded timeframe such as Yesterday and Today.

Multiple values for dt.security_context allowed

Platform | OpenPipeline

In the Permission stage in OpenPipeline, the Security context value (dt.security_context) previously could only be a string value. Now other data types (including numeric, boolean, and multi-value) are possible.
