In Dynatrace release 1.270, Dynatrace announced the end of support for custom charts however, security support for preset Dynatrace dashboards using custom charts will continue until Dynatrace completes the migration to Data Explorer charts.

New features and enhancements

Log Management and Analytics use cases

Infrastructure Observability | Logs

We have added Log Management and Analytics use cases that showcase how to use log data to create metrics.

New DQL commands

Platform | DQL

Now you can include the following commands in your DQL queries:

  • append
The append command appends a given list of records by the records returned by a sub-query.

DQL command as a function

Platform | DQL

Now you can use the lookup command as a function:

New DQL functions

Platform | DQL

Now you can include the following functions in your DQL queries:

  • range
The range function aligns the given value/timestamp to value range based on the provided alignment parameter.

Introducing span context log filtering mechanism in trace view

Application Observability | Distributed traces

By default, all available span IDs of a waterfall node are included in the Logs tab in trace view for filtering. By enabling Strict span filter, only logs relevant to the selected waterfall node are shown.

Problem time-out for the Detect pod backoff events alert

Infrastructure Observability | Kubernetes

The default time-out for the Detect pod backoff events alert has been reduced from 1 hour to 15 minutes.

Topology assignment for kube-state metrics

Infrastructure Observability | Kubernetes

The topology assignment process for kube-state metrics has been improved—now, the assignment is based on dimension values rather than referencing the Prometheus exporter pod and its associated resources. This update specifically impacts kube-state metrics (kube_pod_*).

In addition, Kubernetes service entities are now generated based on kube-state metrics, aligning with the approach used for Istio metrics.

DQL lookup command supports nested fields

Platform | DQL

Now you can use nested fields in lookup command:

Improvements of high Garbage Collection events merging

Platform | Davis AI

  • High GC activity problems merge with high CPU usage problems without additional host evidence.
  • High GC activity problems merge with memory resource exhausted events for up to 15 minutes after high GC, instead of only 3 minutes previously.

Manually closed mute state

Platform | Davis AI

Davis problems and events now support the MANUALLY_CLOSED mute state. This state is set by manually closing problems in the problem overview page.

Reopen problem state

Platform | Davis AI

Reopened Davis problems now have the REOPENED status.

Resolved issues

General Availability (Build 1.273.45)

The 1.273 GA release contains 12 resolved issues.

Component
Resolved issues

Cluster

  • Corrected the problems count in the weekly report. (DAVIS-5334)
  • Improved robustness to prevent very rare cases where root cause analysis was not performed when more than 1,000 baselining events were raised on the same entity within a few seconds. (DAVIS-5360)
  • Unicode whitespace characters at the end of an LQL query no longer cause an error. (LOG-4066)
  • Resolved issue that prevented problem comments from being read shortly after a problem was raised if the problem was raised slightly into the future. (DAVIS-5356)
  • URL filters without a value are now ignored and no longer cause an error. (RUM-12092)
  • Fixed a race condition in the calculated service metric updating logic that could occur when two or more configuration updates were done within a short timeframe, which resulted in the metric not showing the correct data values until the next update refreshed the configuration. (TI-7634)
  • Fixed issue during the process of restoring visit backups causing dropped visits. (RUM-12405)
  • Fixed a bug where live user sessions without visitor ID were dropped during rolling updates. (RUM-12292)
  • Extended the disk exclusion list in host disk settings to 1,500. (HOST-1063)
  • Corrected the new database overview page to show the correct throughput metric. (TI-7724)

ActiveGate

  • OTLP Logs with empty body content (unset/null or empty) are now allowed and ingested into Dynatrace. (LOG-4085)

Application Security

  • On the vulnerability details page, the number of resolved process groups is shown independent of timeframe. (RSA-10953)
