Notebooks

Notebooks are something you read. They're great for:

  • Training and enablement
  • Documentation and launching
  • Ad hoc data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Analyzing complex incidents that require a deeper investigation
  • Pulling together various metrics, logs, and traces from different sources into a single view
  • Collaboration, enabling team members to share their analysis and insights

Data in a notebook is stored within the notebook.

Dashboards

Dashboards are something you view. They're great for:

  • Continuous, real-time monitoring of applications, services and systems
  • Visualizing and tracking key metrics and performance indicators
  • High-level overview of your system's health
  • Regularly tracking performance against service level objectives (SLOs) and identifying anomalies or performance degradations

Data in a dashboard is queried when the dashboard is opened.
