Create an Azure connection

This is an overview of how to onboard your Azure subscription in just a few simple steps. Once completed a connection from Dynatrace SaaS to your Azure subscription will be created.

Dynatrace SaaS will then perform API calls to your Azure subscription to poll telemetry.

The new integration does not deploy or use ActiveGate compute resources inside your Azure subscription to poll telemetry, the experience is transparent and fully managed by Dynatrace SaaS.

The onboarding experience is an evolving core product feature. We are constantly working to collect feedback.

During the Preview we will reach out and ask for feedback. We highly appreciate your willingness to share any feedback.

You can also share your feedback anytime by writing us an email: azurecloudmonitoring-preview@dynatrace.com.

The new cloud platform monitoring supports the creation of Azure connections using UI-based wizard or programmatically, using REST API.

Overview

General recommendations

  • We highly discourage onboarding Azure subscriptions that are actively monitored by our classic Azure integration. Onboarding such subscriptions might increase the likelihood of Azure APIs throttling, potentially resulting in service interruptions.
  • During the Preview, we do not support the onboarding of Azure subscriptions that contain production or business-critical workloads.

Limitations

  • Global Azure Regions are supported.
  • GovCloud and China partitions are not supported.
  • Deleting an existing Azure connection within Dynatrace permanently deletes its associated monitoring configuration; there is no way to restore it.

A single Dynatrace environment allows up to 500 connections. If you require to exceed this, please contact Dynatrace support for more information.
