Get the deobfuscated stack trace of a RUM event stored in Dynatrace Grail with the Deobfuscation API, using the event ID and the event start time.

GETSaaShttps://{your-environment-id}.apps.dynatrace.com/platform/rum/deobfuscation/v1/stacktraces/{eventId}

Overview

All the following scopes are required:

  • storage:buckets:read
  • storage:user.events:read

Returns the stack trace of an event stored in the user.events table, identified by its ID and start time properties.

Only stack traces stored as event's exception.stack_trace property value can be returned.

A requested stack trace is de-obfuscated/symbolicated based on the availability of appropriate symbol/mapping file(s) in the symbol/mapping file storage.

Authentication

To execute this request, you need a platform token or OAuth access token with all of the following scopes:

  • storage:buckets:read
  • storage:user.events:read

To learn how to obtain and use it, see Tokens and authentication.

Response body objects

The StackTraceResponse object

Result structure that contains the requested stack trace, along with additional information.

ElementTypeDescription
issuesIssue[]

Any issues faced when de-obfuscating/symbolicating the stack trace that might result in incomplete de-obfuscation/symbolication

stackTracestring

The requested stack trace, de-obfuscated/symbolicated as much as possible. However, in case the event does not have the exception.stack_trace property, this value will be missing from the response.

The Issue object

ElementTypeDescription
typestring

Issue type:

  • INVALID_EVENT_PROPERTIES Available event properties don't allow to perform de-obfuscation/symbolication, e.g. don't allow to identify appropriate symbol/mapping file.
  • INVALID_STACKTRACE The stack trace of the event is of non-parsable format, or is bad in any other way.
  • INVALID_SYMBOL_FILE The symbol/mapping file stored in the symbol/mapping file storage is invalid in whatever way, and therefore cannot be used for de-obfuscation/symbolication.
  • OTHER Any other issue.
  • STACKTRACE_TYPE_NOT_RECOGNIZED Stack trace type or technology cannot be recognized based on available event properties.
  • SYMBOL_FILE_NOT_FOUND Symbol/mapping file(s) necessary to perform complete de-obfuscation/symbolication, could not be found in the symbol/mapping file storage. Note, some technologies require multiple symbol/mapping files for complete de-obfuscation/symbolication of a stack trace, and might normally miss some of them (e.g. those belonging to system libraries).
