builtin:global.trace.ingest.control)Use this setting to control how much of your total licensed Full-Stack trace volume is allocated to Adaptive Traffic Management (ATM) as usable adaptive trace volume. This includes any additionally configured extended trace volume.
This self-service capability lets you reduce your usable Full-Stack trace volume when it’s not needed.
For instance, you might request extended ingest for major events – say, five times your included trace volume – and then, once the event is over, reduce the usable adaptive trace volume percentage to 30% to reduce extended trace ingest coming from the OneAgent.
You might also ingest OpenTelemetry traces that originate from a Full-Stack monitored host or application. These traces benefit from the Full-Stack included trace volume, but cannot be adaptively sampled by Adaptive Traffic Management as OpenTelemetry traces are usually rate-limited (e.g., 500 per minute) or sampled at fixed rates (e.g., 50%). Therefore, they can exceed the included trace volume.
Reducing the usable adaptive trace volume to, e.g., 50% will free up half of the available volume for OpenTelemetry trace data, reducing the amount of traces charged as Traces - Ingest & Process, making this also an efficient cost-control mechanism.
For more details about this new control, see Adaptive Traffic Management with Dynatrace Platform Subscription IDPS. For more details about how to configure new settings, see Settings API.

Usable adaptive trace volume percentageusableAdaptiveTraceVolumePercentage | integer | The default setting of 100% allows ATM to distribute all usable adaptive volume to the agents. Setting 50% limits distribution to half of the usable adaptive volume. The minimum configurable percentage is 1%. A value of 80% means that 80% of the usable adaptive volume is distributed to the agents, while the remaining 20% is not used for adaptive sampling and could be reserved for, e.g., fixed-rate sampling. | Required |
