Use an image tile to display an image from the image library on your dashboard. The library stores images you upload for reuse across dashboards.

Add an image tile

To add an existing image from the library

  1. In Dashboards Dashboards, open or create a dashboard you can edit.

  2. Open the (Add) menu and select Image, or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+I.

The Image library opens, showing your images sorted by creation date.

    • To sort the list, select the Name or Created column header. For additional sort options, hover over a column header and open the menu.
    • To search by name, enter a search string.
    • To filter by ownership, select Owned by me or Owned by anyone.
    • To preview an image, select the name. The preview panel also shows the alt text, dimensions, and owner.
    • To rename an image, open the menu for that image and select Rename. If the menu is unavailable for an image, you don't own that image.
    • To delete an image, open the menu for that image and select Delete. If the menu is unavailable for an image, you don't own that image.
  3. Select an image. A preview with the image name, alt text, dimensions, and owner appears on the right.

  4. Select Insert image.

The uploaded image is also added to the library for subsequent use.

Image settings

After you add an image tile, you can configure it in the Image panel. To edit an existing image tile, select the tile on your dashboards and then select (Edit).

Image

The Image section displays the image source information.

  • You can have two images per image tile: light theme and dark theme.

  • If you specify only one image, it's used for the light and dark themes.

  • Source: the currently displayed image. Select to open the Image library and choose a different image for this tile. Select to clear.

  • Add dark theme: select to add a second source image displayed when the dashboard is in dark mode.

When you configure both a source and a dark theme source, the image switches automatically based on the active theme.

Display settings

Use the Display settings section to adjust how the image is displayed within the tile.

  • Sizing:
    • Fill expands the image to fill the tile.
    • Fit scales the image proportionally within the tile boundaries.
  • Alignment: To adjust the position of the image within the tile, use the 9-point alignment grid.
  • Background color: To set the tile's background color, turn on Background color and select a color.
  • Description: To add a description of the image for screen readers (up to 125 characters), enter the Description text. This text is used only for screen readers.

Links

Add links to the image tile. Configured links appear in the upper-right corner of the tile when you hover over it. You can add multiple links per tile.

To add an image link

  1. Select in the Links section.
  2. Configure the link:
    • Name: Enter a descriptive name to display in the menu.
    • Icon: Select an icon to represent the link in the menu.
    • URL: Enter the link destination.
